EXICOM Tele-Systems Ltd, one of India’s leading suppliers of power and energy solutions, has aimed to deploy 1 GWh of energy storage solutions in India by the financial year 2018-19.
Out of 1 GWh, the company has already supplied over 600 MWh lithium-ion battery solutions to its customers since 2013 when it first ventured into energy storage solutions in distributed form.
To date, EXICOM has energy storage solutions for all applications including grid scale, renewable energy integration, diesel usage optimization, C&I, telecom, IT, ancillary services, energy access and electric vehicles (EVs).
The energy provider has installed two grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects for Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), Puducherry and Central Electronics Limited (CEL), New Delhi for varied applications such as frequency regulation, voltage stabilization, grid stability and energy time shift.
Anant Nahata, Managing Director, Exicom Power Solutions told pv magazine: “These projects are of great strategic importance for Indian regulators, policymakers and end users in demonstrating storage’s ability for grid support services and infusing confidence in the adaptation of new storage technologies.
“It is the first Indian company to build the repository of various reference sites for policy/regulatory advocacy.”
According to Exicom, the newly introduced leading edge lithium-ion battery technology, developed through several improvements at a very early stage, can work successfully in different and varied climate ranges of India, right from the coldest terrains of northern states to the hottest places in western India to the tropical regions below the Tropic of Cancer.
Nahata said: “With our core R&D and (Battery Management System) BMS expertise, we have been able to successfully modify and innovate the products suitable for deployment in any part of the world. This sets us apart in the league and gives us the competitive advantage over others.”
As India gears up for the revolution in mobility with 100% electrification by 2030, Exicom is set to offer customers e-charging with convenience, to capture EV market. The company won the EESL bid to supply 125 chargers through a techno-commercial bidding process, which are already installed in the Delhi NCR region.
Nahata said that these chargers are developed in-line with the Bharat AC 001 and Bharat DC 001 specifications released by the Department of Heavy Industries, Government of India in November 2017. Bharat DC 001 specifications follow GB/T for less than 100V, 15kW and more than 100V – the specs are yet to be released.
The EXICOM DC charger comes with a single vehicle charging, and two connector architectures where connector A can charge at 48V/60V/72V at 3.3 kW and connector B can charge at 48V/60V/72V at 15 kW using GB/T 20234.3 connector. Whereas, AC charger comes with three outputs of 230V, 15A each using IEC 60309 Industrial sockets.
According to EXICOM, these chargers are Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) compliant, which offers a stable solution for communication between charge point and the central system. These chargers allow consumers to pay through multiple options (Debit/Credit Card, BHIM – cashless payment system, Bharat QR or UPI compliant mobile payment).
Presently, EXICOM is offering both off the shelf as well as customized solutions for residential and public charging for two and three-wheelers, passenger segment, and commercial vehicles.
“We can provide charging solutions for any size project or program, from just one vehicle to public parking spaces, and ramps up to a full fleet of vehicles. Leading EV Automakers have tested, approved, and partnered with Exicom,” Nahata said.
