NTPC Ltd, India’s largest power generator, has declared financial results for the first quarter (April-June period) of FY 2023-24. Profit after tax (or net profit) for Q1 FY24 rose 9.39% year-on-year to INR 4,066 crore. Total income stood at INR 39,681 crore as against INR 40,726 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.
During the April-May-June quarter of 2023, NTPC Ltd commissioned a 10 MW solar PV plant at Gandhar (Gujarat), a 100 MW Nokhra solar PV plant in Bikaner (Rajasthan), and one thermal unit of 660 MW Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant in Bangladesh.
The group installed capacity of the company is now more than 73 GW (including joint ventures). NTPC Group generated 103.98 billion units in Q1 FY 2024 compared to 104.42 billion units in Q1 FY 2023. NTPC’s standalone gross generation in Q1 FY 2024 was 88.55 billion units compared to 90.49 billion units in the corresponding previous period.
