State-owned NTPC has announced the commissioning of the second 10 MW portion of its 20 MW Gandhar solar PV project in Gujarat. The project’s first-part capacity of 10 MW was declared commercially operational in August last year.
The 20 MW Gandhar solar project inside NTPC’s Jhanor-Gandhar gas-based power station has been developed under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy’s Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme. It was won by NTPC through viability gap funding (VGF) based competitive bidding in an auction by the Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI) in 2019.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd executed the project under EPC mode.
As per the conditions of the CPSU scheme, the project employs domestically manufactured PV modules and cells.
