HG Infra Engineering announced that its arm H.G. Choraniya Bess has entered into a battery energy storage purchase agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) for a 300 MW/600 MWh BESS on long term basis.

HG Infra Engineering had won the capacity in GUVNL’s Phase VI auction for 500 MW/1,000 MWh of BESS capacity through a tariff-based competitive bidding process.

The project completion duration is 24 months. The tariff is set at INR 2,85,600 per megawatt, with a contract duration of 12 years. The total project cost is estimated to be around INR 670 crore, plus taxes.

HG Indra will develop the project on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis. The BESS facilities will be made available to GUVNL for charging and discharging on an ‘on-demand’ basis, supporting grid stability and renewable energy integration across the state.
