Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Co. Ltd (CSPDCL) has invited proposals for setting up pilot standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, connected to the state grid, for an aggregate storage capacity of 760 MWh (380 MW x 2 hours). The BESS must be capable of two complete charge/discharge cycles per day.
The total project capacity of 380 MW/760 MWh will be located in the vicinity of CSPDCL substations in Chhattisgarh. Land identification and allocation for the projects is under CSPDCL’s scope.
The selected developers will establish the BESS on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis. They will make the energy storage facilities available to CSPDCL for charge/discharge operations on an “on-demand” basis.
CSPDCL aims to utilize the BESS to meet the energy requirements of the state’s DISCOMs during peak and off-peak hours. It will enter into a battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) with the successful bidders.
Bidding closes on Sept. 30.
