State-owned hydropower producer NHPC, which has diversified into the field of solar and wind power, is also exploring the development of pumped storage projects in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha.
NHPC has completed the pre-feasibility report (PFR) of the Indira Sagar Omkareshwar (525 MW) Pumped Storage Scheme in Madhya Pradesh. It has also submitted the PFR of the Tekwa-2 Pumped Storage Scheme (800 MW).
Further, in July last year, NHPC signed an MoU with DVC to “explore the formation of a joint venture company (JVC) for exploring and setting up hydropower and pumped storage projects. It has received the letter of award for the preparation of PFR for Panchet Hill (600 MW) PSP.
