Loom Solar launches IoT based AC modules

Loom Solar, an emerging startup under Govt. of India’s StartUp India initiative, has introduced IoT (Internet of Things) based AC solar modules integrated with microinverter technology. These smart grid-ready panels have a 7th generation microinverter from U.S. manufacturer Enphase (IQ7+ Micro) mounted on their backsheet, providing a plug-and-play option for large and small establishments and households.

In comparison to traditional systems, the smart grid-ready AC solar modules output 230V AC at panel level, thereby increasing the efficiency of a solar system by 20%-25%. These also reduce the overall installation cost by 10%-15%. A single panel can generate 375 W power. The IoT feature enables consumers to monitor, control and check panel level performance anytime, anywhere.

In 2007 Waaree was the first Indian solar module manufacturer to partner with Enphase Energy to build AC panels integrated with Enphase microinverters. A 4.5MW power plant installation in Bengaluru—commissioned by EPC firm Diwakar Soltec using Waaree Enphase AC modules in year 2018—represents Enphase’s entry into India’s utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) segment
