Tata Motors has collaborated with Tata Power to develop 4 MWp solar capacity at its vehicle manufacturing plant in Pune. The factory already hosts a cumulative 15 MWp of PV capacity across its passenger and commercial manufacturing facilities. 

Tata Motors’ passenger car manufacturing plant in Pune, Maharashtra, will house India’s largest solar project at a factory, at 17 MW.

As vice president, Deepak Kumar will lead end-to-end supply chain and operations for the electric vehicle (EV) charger vertical at Servotech.

The Canadian clean energy solutions provider will supply its fuel cell modules for use in Tata Motors’ 15 hydrogen-powered buses. The buses are planned for deployment in Faridabad, in the National Capital Region of Delhi.

The 6.2MWp solar carport at Tata Motors’ plant in Maharashtra spans over 30,000 square meters. It will generate 86.4 lakh kWh of electricity per year, helping to offset about 7,000 tons of carbon emissions annually.

The electric vehicles—150 units of Nexon XZ+ and 100 Kona electric—will replace Central and State Governments’ existing fleet of petrol and diesel vehicles.

The 6.2 MWp ‘carport style’ solar plant at Tata Motors’ Chikhali plant in the Pune district will use 12,896 monocrystalline panels rated 485 Wp each and cover an area of 40,000 sq.m.

Exicom Tele-Systems will recycle electric vehicle batteries at the end of their lifecycle to develop custom battery packs for non-automotive applications such as home inverters, commercial & industrial UPS, and renewable energy storage.

The state bus company had originally sought central government funding for 250 vehicles but was given the green light for the smaller figure. A pre-bid meeting related to the tender is planned on Friday.

The charging stations—to be installed in five metro cities—will come up at strategic locations frequented by potential electric vehicle owners such as Tata Motors dealerships, certain Tata Group retail outlets and other public locations.
