Adani Green Energy Ltd announced today that it has secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corp. Ltd (UPPCL) to deliver 1,250 MW of energy storage capacity from pumped hydro storage projects. The PPA was executed between AGEL’s step-down arm Adani Hydro Energy Five and UPPCL.
AGEL was awarded the 1.25 GW pumped storage project by UPPCL in February this year. The project, Panaura PSP, has a minimum commitment for 40 years. It will be located in the Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh, and is slated for completion within the next six years.
Adani Green plans to add over 5 GW hydro PSP capacity by 2030. The company has already commenced the construction of its hydro pumped storage projects of 500 MW at Chitravathi river in Andhra Pradesh, 1,500 MW at Tarali in Maharashtra, and 1,800 MW at Gandikota in Andhra Pradesh.
