NTPC Group to invest INR 96,000 crore in Chhattisgarh

NTPC Ltd will invest INR 96,000 crore in setting up nuclear, pump hydro and renewable projects based on solar, wind, and hybrid sources in Chhattisgarh. The Group, along with its arm NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), signed recently multiple agreements with the Govt. of Chhattisgarh for the proposed investment.

NTPC Ltd and the government of Chhattisgarh have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for setting up 4.2 GW of nuclear capacity in Chhattisgarh with an estimated investment of INR 80,000 crore.

Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Co. Ltd (CSPGCL) and NTPC have signed an MoU for around INR 5,876 crore investment in setting up 1.2 GW of pumped hydro storage project at Sikaser in Gariyaband district of the state.

NGEL and CSPGCL have signed a joint venture agreement for setting up renewable energy projects up to 2 GW in the state with an investment of around INR 10,000 crore. These projects will help in meeting Renewable Generation Obligation (RGO) of CSPGCL as well as renewable purchase obligation (RPO) of Chhattisgarh DISCOM.
