NHPC Ltd has launched a tender to select developers for setting up 1.2 GW of grid-connected solar PV projects and additional capacity up to 1.2 GW under ‘Greenshoe Option.’ The prospective developers will develop the projects on a build-own-operate basis on the land to be identified and arranged by them anywhere in India. The solar power produced by these projects will be purchased by NHPC and sold to the State utilities, Discoms or any other beneficiary.
The minimum project size is 50 MW and in multiples of 10 MW thereafter under OPEN category. The cumulative capacity offered should not exceed 600 MW without Greenshoe option and 1,200 MW for a bidder with Greenshoe option. However, for projects located in North-Eastern States and Special Category, the minimum quantum of contracted capacity that can be offered by a bidder is 30 MW.
