AM Green Technology and Solutions, an arm of green molecule producer AM Green, has announced the signing of a binding agreement to acquire Finland based biorefining technology provider Chempolis Oy. It has also signed the agreement to acquire Fortum’s shares in Assam Bio Refinery in India.

The Assam biorefinery is a joint venture of the Indian oil refinery company Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL), Chempolis and Fortum, established to produce bioethanol from bamboo by utilizing Chempolis biorefining technology.

Chempolis’ technology enables the production of high-quality bioethanol, biochemicals and sulfur-free lignin, sustainably out of lignocellulosic feedstocks. The process utilizes an extensive range of lignocellulosic biomasses in a flexible manner, with high material efficiency.

AM Green, owned by the founders of renewable energy company Greenko Group, looks to establish large-scale bio refineries with Chempolis technology. These refineries will utilize multiple feedstocks to produce green chemicals and products, enabling decarbonization in aviation, fuels, chemicals and other industrial sectors.

AM Green also announced it will invest $1 billion to develop 0.5 + mtpa of alcohol-to-jet sustainable aviation fuel plants by 2027 for global airline decarbonization.

Anil Chalamalasetty, group chairman of AM Green, “We are excited to partner with Chempolis to advance the processing of 2G ligno-cellulosic feedstocks. This highlights our commitment to develop innovative, technology enabled solutions to establish large-scale bio refineries that utilize multiple feedstocks & produce high-value green products enabling global decarbonization in aviation, fuels, chemicals, and other industrial sectors.”

AM Green will work with partners worldwide to establish a global bio-refinery ecosystem using a licensing model of Chempolis’s technology. It will further advance the platform’s technological capabilities to process a wider range of feedstocks, transforming them into high valuable green products tailored for diverse consumer and industrial applications.
