Oriana Power today announced that its arm TrueRE Surya has been awarded a 128 MW solar project by Dalmia Cement (Bharat), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat Ltd.
Under the contract, Oriana Power will build and operate a 128 MW ground-mounted solar power plant in Tamil Nadu for captive consumption by Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. The plant’s cost of construction is estimated at INR 520 crore and it is expected to be commissioned within 12 months. Once completed, it will generate 1,920 lakh units of electricity per annum and will support Dalmia group’s commitment towards RE100 by 2030 and carbon negative by 2040.
As part of the contract,Dalmia Cement (Bharat) has also entered into agreement to acquire 26% of TrueRE Surya’s equity share capital for INR 44.8 crore, in one or more tranches. The transaction is expected to be completed within four to six months.
Last week, Oriana Power had announced a 52 MW solar project order from Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd under EPC segment. The project is estimated worth INR 247.88 crore.
With these project wins, Oriana Power now has more than 570 MW of cumulative capacity under execution. The company has delivered more than 240 MW of cumulative projects so far.
Oriana Power has a diverse portfolio of projects spread across 22 states in India. The company has tied up around 920 acres of land bank for renewable energy projects across India. Going forward, the company is aiming to expand to Middle-East, Africa and Europe.
Oriana also recently entered into a strategic tie-up with US-based green hydrogen electrolyser manufacturer, Splitwaters. It said it will commission a giga-factory for producing electrolysers and Balance of Plant (BOP) modules – key components for green hydrogen and e-fuels production – with 500 MW capacity to be operational by 2026 and another 500 MW to be added in 2027.
