TDK Corp., a Japanese multinational electronics company, has proposed an investment of INR 4,000 crore in Haryana to set up a battery energy storage unit. A delegation from the company met Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini to discuss the proposed investment.
TDK already operates a lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant in Sohna, Haryana, which produces batteries for mobile phones, wearables, and watches, as well as laptops.
The company, which has secured a significant share in small rechargeable batteries globally, sees a new growth opportunity in medium-sized rechargeable batteries for power storage systems. For mid- to long-term growth, it plans to respond to rising demand for high-performance batteries driven by the expansion of the AI device market and to expand its medium-capacity battery business for data centers.
