AMPIN Energy Transition and Japan’s Sumitomo Corp. have formed a joint venture company, AMPIN C&I Power, to develop renewable energy sources in India and supply the generated power to commercial and industrial clients under power purchase agreement model.

Japan has allocated 93 MW of PV capacity in its latest procurement exercise. The lowest bid for a 1.9 MW solar project came in at JPY 4.5 ($0.029)/kWh, while the average final price was JPY 6.8/kWh.

Hygenco Green Energies has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Power to deliver green hydrogen-/ammonia-fired gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plants.

The green ammonia project to be developed in Paradip, Odisha, will have a green ammonia production capacity of around 100,000 tons per year by 2030. JERA will be the offtaker for the project.

The organic cell retained 89% of its initial performance after being immersed in water for four hours and survived a washing machine cycle. The researchers plan to develop the technology further, with an end goal of using it for wearable devices.

ACME Group has signed an offtake agreement with Japan’s IHI Corp. for its green ammonia project in Odisha. The pact covers the supply of 0.4 mmtpa (million metric tons per annum) of green ammonia from Phase-1 of Acme’s Gopalpur project on a long-term basis.

Petronas arm Gentari and Japan’s IHI have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop a global green ammonia value chain and commercial demonstration of ammonia-powered gas turbine.

Japan’s latest procurement exercise was open to PV projects above 250 kW in size. The lowest price came in at JPY 7.94 ($0.053)/kWh, with 105 MW of allocated capacity.

The new solar panels have flexible properties and are suitable for roofs with loading restrictions. According to their creators, the modules showed high reliability under both high temperature and high humidity conditions.

The India-Japan Fund will actively invest in India’s environmental preservation sector, including renewable energy and e-mobility businesses.
