Maxvolt Energy, a Ghaziabad-based lithium battery pack manufacturer, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee to jointly develop an AI‑driven battery management system (AI‑BMS) for next‑generation energy storage and electric mobility solutions.

The objective of this MoU is to leverage advanced data science, machine learning and control algorithms to create a smart BMS that delivers higher safety, longer battery life and improved performance across diverse applications.

Under this collaboration, Maxvolt Energy and IIT Roorkee will work together on AI‑based algorithms for real‑time State of Charge (SoC) and State of Health (SoH) estimation, predictive analytics for early fault detection and enhanced battery safety, optimization of charging, discharging and thermal management for longer life cycles, and building a scalable AI‑BMS platform for EVs, stationary storage and renewable integration.

Notably, MaxVolt Energy is set to triple its annual production capacity of lithium battery packs from 72,000 units per annum to 2.25 lakh units annually. The facility is currently under development and is expected to become operational by February end. The company’s current manufacturing facility in Ghaziabad is equipped with 97.2 MWh of annual production capacity. It has also established a battery repurposing facility and is now in the process of setting up a dedicated battery recycling plant in India.
