KPI Green Energy Ltd today announced that it has commenced power generation and supply from its 200 MW AC (240 MW DC) grid-connected solar project awarded by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL). It had secured this IPP project through a competitive bidding process.

The power generated from the project will be supplied under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), with GUVNL as the sole off-taker.

KPI Green Energy said the solar plant has achieved grid synchronisation, and initial power injection into the state grid has commenced.

Notably, this plant is one of the first solar power projects to be commissioned in the 1.8 GW GSECL Solar Park (South Block) at Khavda, Gujarat.

“With over 300 sunny days a year and a solar irradiation rate of 2,060 kWh/m², Khavda offers optimal energy output, ensuring highly efficient utilization of solar panels. The region’s vast, flat terrain provides an ideal location for large-scale solar installations, minimizing construction complexities and allowing advanced technologies to be deployed at scale. The region’s proximity to Gujarat’s energy grid and industrial hubs ensures seamless transmission of clean energy demand centres,” stated KPI Green.
