Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, a global conference-cum-exhibition for the power and electricity sector, will be held from 19–22 March 2026 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi. A formal announcement to this effect was made by Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, in New Delhi.

The four-day Summit will focus on the entire power value chain, including power generation (with emphasis on clean energy systems such as solar, wind, hydro, green hydrogen, etc.), transmission and distribution, energy storage, and energy efficiency solutions. It will bring together domestic and international stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and civil society to deliberate on the future of electricity and sustainable energy systems, facilitating cross-sector dialogue, strengthening global cooperation, and fostering strategic partnerships.

The event will feature more than 50 high-level conference sessions and a series of expert-led panel discussions with over 300 speakers from India and around the world, along with thematic pavilions and technology showcases representing the full spectrum of the electricity and clean energy value chain. It will host over 500 exhibitors and is expected to attract more than 25,000 attendees and over 1,000 delegates.

One of the key features of the Summit will be a Buyer-Seller Meet, aimed at accelerating partnerships and unlocking new business opportunities across the global power supply chain.

Speaking at the curtain-raiser event, Manohar Lal Khattar said that Bharat Electricity Summit 2026 reflects India’s resolve to shape the future of electricity systems as the country enters an era of energy abundance.

“There was a time when our discussions centred on bridging power shortages and meeting basic needs. Today, we are talking about managing surplus, ensuring resilience, and delivering universal excellence,” he said.

The Minister noted that over the last decade, India has achieved historic milestones in the power sector. Installed power generation capacity has more than doubled since 2014, rising from 249 GW in 2014 to over 500 GW by November 2025. India is now the world’s third largest producer and consumer of electricity.

He highlighted that the country successfully met a record all-India peak power demand of about 250 GW during solar hours in 2024, and over 230 GW during non-solar hours. Power shortages have declined sharply, from about 4.2% in 2014 to negligible levels by 2025.

India is also emerging as a global leader in the energy transition, with the share of non-fossil fuel sources in installed power generation capacity increasing from about 32% in 2014 to around 52% by November 2025.

India’s renewable energy capacity has grown more than three-fold, from 76.4 GW in 2014 to around 254 GW in 2025, becoming the world’s fourth largest country in terms of installed RE capacity. Solar power capacity alone has expanded nearly 47 times, from 2.8 GW in 2014 to about 133 GW in 2025.

“The Bharat Electricity Summit 2026 will not just display what we have achieved; it will be a launchpad for what we will achieve together—by bringing technology providers, infrastructure developers, innovators, and decision-makers onto a single platform. The Summit offers a unique environment where local capabilities connect with global vision to shape a sustainable and resilient electricity future,” Khattar said.

The event was attended by Pankaj Aggarwal, Secretary (Power), and senior officials from the Ministry of Power, Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Ministry of Coal, and Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, along with officials from foreign embassies, Resident Commissioners of States and Union Territories, and representatives of CII, FICCI, and ASSOCHAM. Senior officials from GENCOs, TRANSCOs, and DISCOMs also joined the event through video conferencing.
