Agratas, the global battery business of the Tata group, is rapidly advancing the construction work for its world-class battery manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat, with the structural steel framework now nearing completion.

Spanning 320 acres, this facility will have a planned annual capacity of 20 GWh in its first phase.

More than 2,000 construction workers and over 700 staff from vendor organisations are currently engaged, accelerating progress across the site. The facility, when operational, will strengthen India’s domestic capability in advanced battery cell manufacturing.

“The progress at Sanand reflects the dedication and pace of our teams as we bring our vision to life. Each phase of construction takes us closer to our goal of building one of the most advanced manufacturing facilities in the country,” said Anand Sodha, vice president – Supply Chain, Agratas.

Two Tata group companies, Tata Projects Ltd and Tata Consulting Engineers, are working with Agratas to build this facility.

Rahul Sharma, Strategic Business Unit Head – Urban Built Form, Tata Projects, stated, “Our expertise in delivering large-scale manufacturing projects enables us to construct world-class facilities efficiently, while ensuring sustainable practices are embedded throughout the process.”

As construction advances, Agratas is also building a sophisticated and resilient supply chain, deploying advanced systems to drive efficiency and real-time visibility across the network.

State-of-the-art supply chain operations will feature an integrated sales and operations planning system that connects demand, supply and inventory management across imports, exports, and domestic movements

“Our supply chain will provide resilience, visibility, and speed by design. From automation to sustainable transport, every aspect has been engineered to meet global standards while contributing to India’s clean energy mission,” said Anand Sodha.
