Zelestra, a multi-technology renewable energy developer, today announced that its commercial & industrial (C&I) portfolio in India has reached over 122 MW through wind-solar-battery energy storage system (BESS) hybrid projects in Tamil Nadu. The milestone includes the latest addition of a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) secured with an automobile conglomerate headquartered in Madurai.
Zelestra’s cumulative 122.4 MWp C&I capacity in Tamil Nadu will supply to three major industrial clients: A leading Indian multinational conglomerate (34.54 MWp), Seshasayee Paper & Boards Ltd (69 MWp) and Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (18.6 MWp).
Zelestra will build, own, operate a co-located wind-solar hybrid project with a total capacity of 150 MW, to supply renewable power to its corporate and industrial clients under the Intra-State Open Access framework. The project is expected to be fully operational by March 2026.
“Tamil Nadu’s industrial ecosystem, particularly across automotive, textiles, and manufacturing sectors, has shown remarkable commitment to decarbonization objectives, creating an enabling environment for strategic renewable energy partnerships,” said Sajay K V, CEO of Zelestra India. “This market momentum, combined with our demonstrated technical expertise from over 1 GW of successful implementation in Tamil Nadu and proven capability in navigating open access regulations, positions us ideally to scale our C&I operations.”
Raja Singarayar, head of Commercial, Zelestra India added that Tamil Nadu has established itself as India’s leading C&I clean energy hub, supported by several strategic advantages including optimal solar-wind resource complementarity, robust grid infrastructure, and progressive regulatory frameworks. Zelestra looks to strengthen its C&I footprint in the state as it targets 1 GW of capacity exclusively for commercial and industrial clients by 2026.
Zelestra is a vertically integrated private-sector power producer with a clean energy footprint of 28 GW across 13 countries. Backed by EQT, a global asset manager, Zelestra serves global leaders including Meta, Shell, Tesla, and Daimler.
