TP Solar Ltd (TP Solar), an arm of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), has secured a contract with the Maharashtra State Power Generation Co. Ltd (MSPGCL) to supply 300 MWp of solar modules certified under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) published by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
The modules will deployed for distributed solar projects to be set up under Maharashtra’s Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Scheme that targets 30% feeder solarization by 2025, through the implementation of 7 GW of decentralized solar projects, to provide day-time electricity supply to farmers.
Under the contract signed with MSPGCL, TP Solar will supply ALMM-listed modules to multiple locations across Maharashtra in the current year. The contract is valued at around INR 455 crore.
The award forms part of MSPGCL’s 750 MWp module tender, which was finalized following a competitive e-Reverse Auction (eRA) process.
TP Solar operates India’s largest single-location solar cell and module manufacturing plant in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. With a capacity of 4.3 GW each for cells and modules, the facility has been designed with open spaces to accommodate future expansion. Tata Power, through its subsidiary TPREL, has invested nearly INR 4,300 crore to establish this plant. Equipped with TOPCon and mono PERC technologies, the plant produces ALMM-certified modules as also DCR modules using India made cells in this plant.
