Emmvee is setting up a 1.5 GW TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility in the Indian state of Karnataka. The unit will start production from June.

Karnataka-based Emmvee Group is constructing a 1.5 GW cell line with integrated 1.75 GW module capacity in Karnataka. The new facility will expand its overall module capacity to 3 GW.

India’s Emmvee Group has appointed Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy as the technology partner for its upcoming 1.5 GW PV cell manufacturing facility.

This past week saw the Renewable Energy India Expo come to Greater Noida, on the outskirts of New Delhi, for its 15th edition. pv magazine spent three days navigating the packed halls of the exhibition and conference, and has compiled these takeaways.

Karnataka-based Emmvee has unveiled Sapphire series glass-to-glass bifacial modules with power outputs ranging from 530 W to 545 W. The modules are built with 144 mono PERC half cells and ten busbars.

Bengaluru-based Emmvee Photovoltaic has a 1.25 GW module manufacturing facility that can produce polycrystalline and mono PERC solar panels, with the ability to upgrade to TOPCon. By the end of 2023, it will raise its module capacity to 3 GW by adding new units, including 1.5 GW of wafer-to-module capacity. Suhas Donthi, director-sales and operations, spoke to pv magazine about current demand for Indian manufacturers and what’s in store.

Coming up at Dobaspet town in Karnataka, this will be Emmvee’s second solar manufacturing investment in the Indian State after the existing 500 MW module plant.
