Bridge To India’s latest report shows India installed a cumulative rooftop solar capacity of 6,792 MW as of December 31, 2020. Capital expenditure (capex) model, wherein consumers own the system, accounted for a majority of this capacity (72%). 

The company has signed an agreement with Cleantech Solar for a PV project with a capacity of more than 100 MW. The project—to be delivered in three phases—is expected to be completed within this year. 

Bridge to India figures show dominance of Chinese inverters, which supplied almost 80% of installs from July last year to the end of June.

The commercial and industrial solar developer, which commands a significant share in the Indian market, will use the amount to fund rooftop PV installations for corporates across Southeast Asia.

China’s Growatt emerged as the largest rooftop solar inverter supplier, claiming around 21% of the 1534 MW market, followed by rivals Solis (18%) and Sungrow (17%).

Manufacturing sector accounts for 14% of rooftop installations among top end user industries. The sector added around 130 MW of rooftop capacity in FY2019.

While some of the industry insiders gathered at REI 2019 have made predictable calls to be free of the restrictions imposed by regulators, others maintained policy support is crucial and audience members voiced concern about India’s lack of recycling rules.

Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu were the top five states by annual installation, accounting for 60% of the new capacity.

Currently, the Mumbai-based solar EPC firm is executing 134.5 MWp project capacity to be commissioned by September 2019. It expects to surpass cumulative installation of 350 MWp by the end of FY 2019-20.
