Germany’s Fraunhofer ISE announces 33% efficiency for multi-junction solar cell
Together with Austrian equipment manufacturer EVG, Fraunhofer ISE has achieved an efficiency of 33.3% on a multi-junction solar cell. The highlight of the cell is the ultra-thin II-V semiconductor layer. However, it will be a few years before mass production is possible.
Odisha: GRIDCO tenders 200 MW solar PV
The Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO) has announced a 200 MW grid-connected solar PV power projects to be set up in the state of Odisha. The tender has a provision of pass-through in the quoted tariff in case of anti-dumping duty or safeguard duty imposition.
Azure Power wins 200 MW in Gujarat
The New Delhi-based solar energy firm has won a 200 MW solar PV project to be developed outside a solar park in Gujarat, in an auction conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). The project will be commissioned by the year 2019.

Coal India targets 20 GW solar projects in next 10 years
Coal India Ltd, the world’s largest coal producer company, has set the target of 20 GW solar PV installations in the next 10 years. To achieve the ambitious goal, the fossil fuel run firm will require an investment of approximately INR 900 billion ($13.8 billion).
GCL Group, Softbank sign MOU for 4 GW of solar manufacturing in Andhra Pradesh
The Asian companies will form a joint venture in India to execute the plan. The project’s total investment is expected to be around US$930 million, which will be used for the production of solar PV ingots, wafers, cells, modules and batteries.
