ANDRITZ has secured the order to equip Torrent Power’s Saidongar-1 Karjat open-loop pumped storage plant with ten pump turbine units and additional electromechanical equipment. The project, located in the state of Maharashtra, will have a capacity of 3 GW. Once operational, it will have an annual energy output of 6,241 GWh and help offset carbon dioxide emissions by 4.55 million tons per year, roughly equivalent to taking around one million cars off the road annually.
ANDRITZ’s scope for the Saidongar-1 Karjat project comprises the design, manufacture, installation, testing, and commissioning of ten reversible pump turbines, motor-generators, and related electromechanical equipment. The project will be executed leveraging ANDRITZ’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in India, supported by the company’s global network.
ANDRITZ is currently involved in the implementation of seven new pumped storage plants in India.
