Tata Power Renewable signs 80 MW FDRE PPA with Tata Power Mumbai Distribution

Tata Power announced this week that its arm Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Mumbai Distribution to supply 80 MW firm and dispatchable renewable energy. TPREL will set up a renewables project combining solar, wind and battery storage components to ensure reliable energy dispatch during peak demand hours.

The project, to be completed within 24 months, is expected to generate around 315 million units of electricity annually, mitigating over 0.25 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

A key feature of the project is the commitment to a 4-hour peak power supply, with at least 90% availability during peak demand hours, to support the growing energy needs of Tata Power Mumbai Distribution. This project will play a pivotal role in helping Tata Power Mumbai Distribution meet its Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO), as mandated by the State’s Regulatory Commission.

The clean energy generated from this project will be seamlessly integrated into Tata Power’s Mumbai distribution network, delivering reliable, low-emission electricity to around 8 lakh customers across residential, commercial, and industrial consumers.
