Cleantech Solar switches on 80 MWp of open-access PV projects in Tamil Nadu

Cleantech Solar has announced the commissioning of its open-access PV projects totalling 80 MWp for industrial customers. The projects are located at the company’s state-of-the-art 275 MWp solar park in Tamil Nadu, its fifth renewable energy park in the state. These supply power to industrial clients on a captive basis to meet their energy requirements for manufacturing operations.

The open access mechanism allows large industrial consumers to buy renewable power directly from producers, bypassing electricity distribution companies (discoms). Renewable power is transmitted from distant plants to industrial facilities using the common grid infrastructure.

“The client portfolio for the newly commissioned projects [in the 275 MWp solar park in Tamil Nadu] spans a range of industries, with several being long-term partners who are further expanding their renewable energy commitments,” stated Cleantech Solar. Notable clients currently sourcing power from the park include leading U.S.-based solar technology provider First Solar, Indian chemical manufacturer DCW, and advanced materials specialist Murugappa Morgan Thermal Ceramics.”

Cleantech Solar, headquartered in Singapore, is a pan-Asia renewable energy provider for corporates. It has around 1.2 GWp of solar and wind hybrid assets in operations, construction and development stages across India and Southeast Asia. This includes installations in India, Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. The company is backed by Keppel Ltd, Keppel Asia Infrastructure Fund and Shell Singapore.
