SJVN Ltd, through its arm SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), has signed a power usage agreement with Jammu & Kashmir Power Corp. Ltd (JKPCL). Under the agreement, SGEL will supply 300 MW solar power to JKPCL from its under-construction 1 GW PV project in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan.
SGEL is developing the Bikaner solar power project under the CPSU (Central Public Sector Undertakings) Scheme of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA). The project cost is estimated at INR 5,491 crore ($662.56 million). The CPSU Scheme mandates the usage of domestically manufactured solar cells and modules.
The project is slated for commissioning by July this year.
The power generated from the project will be used by government entities, either directly or through discoms.
