Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd (BPCL) aims to convert all of its retail outlets/fuel stations into complete energy stations by providing EV charging stations initially at 7,000 retail outlets by December 2024. Currently, it has 747 EV charging stations and 13 battery swapping stations in operation at its fuel stations.
BPCl will focus on providing charging stations on highways and cities prioritized by the Government of India. It has adopted a highway fast-charging corridor model with fast chargers deployed at every 100 km on both sides of the highway corridor.
BPCL has 80 such corridors in operation to date. It plans to set up around 400 such highway corridors.
