Triveni Glass will set up a solar glass manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh with an estimated investment of INR 1,000 crore. The plant will have the capacity to produce 840 metric tonnes of solar glass per day.

The proposed plant at Pangidi in East Godavari district, is expected to create 2,000 jobs.

The announcement follows solar glass foray by the likes of Asahi India Glass, Gold Plus Glass Industry, and textile manufacturer Chiripal Group and aggressive expansion by Borosil Renewables, which is currently the only solar glass manufacturer in India with an operational capacity.

Borosil Renewables has a cumulative solar glass capacity of 1,300 tpd in India and Germany, which includes 300 tpd in Germany added through the acquisition of Europe’s largest solar glass manufacturer Interfloat Group.

Among the new entrants, Gold Plus Glass and Chiripal’s Grew Energy plan capacities of 300 tpd each, whereas Asahi India Glass, in collaboration with polyfilm maker Vishakha Group, is setting up a solar glass plant with a capacity equivalent to 3 GW of solar installation per annum.
