String Inverters

String inverters best for partially shaded PV systems, says IEA-PVPS

The International Energy Agency (IEA) Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (PVPS) has released a technical report exploring innovations and challenges in optimizing the performance of partially shaded PV systems.

Solis launches 60 kW and 125 kW string inverters

Solis has developed new 125 kW and 60 kW string inverters for the U.S. and Canadian markets, both with a maximum efficiency of at least 98.5%

Sineng Electric supplies inverters for 641 MW solar project in Gujarat

Sineng supplied 2,887 units of its 275 kW string inverters (SP-275K-INH) for a 641 MW solar project at the 30 GW Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat. The solar project is developed and owned by Adani.

Polycab unveils three-phase inverters for residential, commercial rooftop solar projects

Polycab has unveiled three-phase inverters for residential and commercial rooftop solar PV projects. The inverters have a nominal power rating ranging from 5 kW to 30 kW and a maximum efficiency of 98.4%.

Master-slave technique for deploying parallel inverters in PV systems

Scientists in Czechia have proposed to use parallel inverters in PV systems to not only reduce instability, but also to increase power yield. The proposed approach reportedly results in higher maximum power point tracking (MPPT) performance.

Deye showcases microinverters, string inverters at REI Expo 2023

Deye has exhibited a diverse range of renewable energy solutions including microinverters, string inverters, high-voltage hybrid inverters, high-voltage batteries, and all-in-one systems at REI Expo 2023.

How long do residential solar inverters last?

A range of different factors can affect the productive lifespan of residential solar inverters.

WattPower signs 1.2 GW string inverters supply deal with ReNew

Pavit Gandhi, sales director at WattPower Systems, told pv magazine that WattPower Systems will supply 1 GW of string inverters by December 2023 and the balance by March 2024 for ReNew’s multiple renewable energy projects.

Elusive longevity

The expected lifetime of PV inverters is significantly shorter than that of modules. In many projects, inverter replacement is included in financial calculations from the start, despite the high costs. Research is being conducted into the causes of faults to develop more durable inverters and components. But plant design can already improve the lifespan of inverters in use today, reports pv magazine Germany’s Marian Willuhn.

Solis eyes growth in utility-scale solar segment

The Chinese inverter major has showcased its 255K-Plus three-phase inverter for utility-scale solar applications in India. The new inverter is compatible with 500+ W bifacial modules.
