PV manufacturing capacity hit 600 GW in 2022

The new edition of the International Technology Roadmap for Photovoltaic (ITRPV), published this week, finds that 295 GW of PV modules was shipped in 2022, and that prices for silicon PV modules fell by 7% over the year. The report finds that price premiums for n-type modules are now marginal, and the technology grew to represent 15% of the market, and is expected to keep growing over the coming decade.

Longi raises wafer prices as polysilicon hits $34.98/kg

The China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNMIA) said that prices for monocrystalline silicon ranged from CNY 222 ($32.30)/kg to CNY 248/kg last week, up 31.37% from the middle of January. Longi, meanwhile, has raised its wafer prices by more than 15%.

Polysilicon price rebound continues

Polysilicon prices started to rise in the second half of January, according to new data from the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNMIA).

BHEL issues global tender to select monocrystalline module partners

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) seeks module supply partners for an aggregate 750 MW of panels as it intends to participate in the tender for 500 MW Rewa solar park in Madhya Pradesh. Bidding closes on April 27.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveils 45 MW monocrystalline solar panel plant at PDPU

The solar panel production line at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University’s campus in Gujarat will demonstrate the process of cell-to-panel integration, lamination and EL testing.

Integrating stress and temperature sensors in crystalline silicon cells

Fraunhofer ISE researchers have integrated stress and temperature sensors within a PV module. They claim that the devices cover a very minimal part of the cells, and that their interaction with the module and the cell itself is quite limited. The sensors can be manufactured as part of a regular cell manufacturing process.

Vikram Solar announces successful long-duration PV reliability test results

U.S.-based PV Evolution Labs (PVEL) has found that Vikram Solar’s Somera monocrystalline silicon and Eldora polycrystalline silicon PV modules met and exceeded international quality and performance benchmarks.
