International Solar Alliance (ISA)

Ashish Khanna, Director General of International Solar Alliance, highlighted the need to enable private-sector investments in driving technology and innovation for distributed renewable energy, while the government focuses on developing the policy and regulatory framework and results-based financing to make these solutions affordable for the poor.

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will work together to establish and expand clean energy transmission networks across regions such as South Asia, the Persian Gulf, Southeast Asia, and Africa, supporting the development of a unified grid to facilitate the large-scale transfer of clean power.

The shortlisted technologies and solutions include energy-efficient green hydrogen generators, indigenous hydrogen storage systems for commercial vehicles, and alternative combustion burners to improve air quality.

The project will combine green hydrogen generated by Ohmium PEM electrolyzers with CO2 captured from the Singareni Thermal Power Plant to produce green methanol.

The seventh session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly has elected India as President and France as co-president for a period of two years from 2024 to 2026.

Building on the success of the Cairo Edition, International Solar Alliance (ISA) and Green Hydrogen Organisation (GH2) have brought their Green Hydrogen Policy Accelerator Training Course to New Delhi.

The Seventh Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly, to be held in New Delhi from Nov. 3-6, will deliberate on ISA initiatives to improve energy access, security and transition among its member countries.

Continued investments in research and development, particularly in areas like advanced battery storage technologies and next-generation solar cell materials, coupled with supportive policies and global collaboration can unlock the full potential of solar energy and pave the way towards a brighter, more sustainable future. 

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the government of Uganda recently discussed accelerating the solar mini-grid project to address Uganda’s energy access challenge and advancing the solar water pumping project under the India, Brazil, and South Africa (IBSA) Fund. New areas of cooperation, such as establishing a Solar Technology and Application Resource Centre (STAR-C), were also explored.

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) will work with the government of Bhutan to enhance energy access and ensure energy security in Bhutan through solar energy interventions and diversification of the nation’s energy portfolio.
