Delhi lockdown has seen solar irradiation rise

Scientists measuring air pollutants and PV performance in the city have found the lockdown conditions imposed since late March have brought about a significant reduction in air pollution which has led to an 8% increase in solar irradiation reaching rooftop arrays.

Substantial solar gains to be had from clean air – study

Eliminating emissions from the air would increase solar radiation by an average of 11%, allowing solar cells to generate one tenth more electricity claim researchers in a new study. Focusing on China, they say an additional 85-158 TWh of electricity could be generated annually in 2040, if the air was clean.

Solar performance polluted by urban haze

Research conducted over several years by scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) demonstrates that air pollution in cities can put a dampener on the performance of PV panels which, if not taken into account, can threaten a project’s viability.

Delhi 2018-19 budget goes green

The Delhi government run by the Aam Aadmi Party has completed three years in the governance, and yesterday announced its budget for the financial year 2018-19.
