Fortum to sell off 500 MW of India solar assets to Actis

The Finnish clean energy company, which works primarily on a build-operate-transfer model in India, has signed the agreement to divest its 250 MW solar plant in Karnataka and 250 MW in Rajasthan to UK investor Actis. The transaction is valued at approximately EUR 280 million and will enable Fortum to invest in building new projects.

Water-free, portable cleaning bot for rooftop solar

India’s Aegeus Technologies has developed an autonomous, water-free cleaning bot for rooftop solar installations. The bot weighs 5 kg (with battery) and can be operated remotely through a web-based app. It uses an air wash technology to clean the panels, ensuring no need for water or any harmful chemicals.

IISc sets up off-grid EV charging station powered by Vikram Solar modules

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore has set up a solar-powered charging station to conduct the system’s impact assessment. The system—designed by UK-based renewable energy advisor GreenEnco—uses Vikram Solar’s 16 mono PERC solar modules of 400 Wp each, a hybrid inverter, and battery storage.

NHPC tenders for 100 MW solar EPC work in Karnataka

Bids can be submitted until February 16 to install and commission the project at the Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park (UMREPP) in Koppal District.

ADB to provide $100 million to upgrade power distribution system in Bengaluru

The funds will be used to move about 7,200 km of overhead distribution lines underground. Besides, fibre-optical cables will be installed in parallel to the underground distribution cables to strengthen the communication network for smart metering, distribution automation, etc.

The work includes consultancy for demand aggregation and implementation of 1060 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar PV systems. Applications can be submitted until January 1, 2021.

IISc Bangalore installs solar microgrid in primary health center

The network consists of a 96 V, 5.2 kW solar power system and a 96 V, 7.5 kVA PV inverter plus 96 V, 150 Ah of lead-acid battery storage. The microgrid will provide backup power during emergencies.
