Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the Pavagada Solar Park in Karnataka last week.

Microsoft has purchased 3 MW of solar generation capacity from a solar developer, Atria Power. This will cover 80% of the projected electricity requires at the new facility.

The renewable energy developer will build a 100 MW solar farm in India’s Tamil Nadu for a major utility, and an additional 60 MW solar plant in Karnataka for an independent power producer.

The KREDL tender for a 55 MW solar project was won by a joint venture between Think Energy and EverStream Capital Management. The JV has also won 23.39 MW of rooftop capacity under a SECI auction.

Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd (KREDL) has announced a 1.2 GW tender for a grid-connected ground-mounted solar PV project to be installed in the Pavagada Solar Park.

The investments from Netherlands-based FMO and the U.S.’s OPIC will help to grow the company’s platform in India, which finances rooftop solar for SMEs. Orb Energy will also expand its Kenyan operations.

SECI has had a busy day, releasing three tenders worth 1.2 GW. Following on from a 275 MW tender this morning, it has now announced a 950 MW tender for grid connected solar PV projects in the state of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, under the National Solar Mission of Phase-II, Batch-IV.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited has installed a 50 MW solar PV project at Pavagada Solar Park in Karnataka under the country’s Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) program.

Solar EPC firm, Oriano Solar has installed two 20 MW thin film PV plants in Karnataka. The modules, based on CdTe technology, are procured from U.S.-based company First Solar.
