JSW Cement plans to transition to EV trucks across its manufacturing operations. Toward achieving that goal, it has initiated an EV truck pilot project between its manufacturing operations in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Brookfield and Axis Energy Ventures had earlier formed a joint venture platform ABC Renewables to develop renewable energy projects. The latest JV will have up to $845 million of equity investment by Brookfield. 

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd will set up a 41 MW solar plant to power TP Solar’s upcoming 4.3 GW PV cell and module fab in Tamil Nadu.

NTPC Green Energy Ltd and Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd (ONGC) have signed an agreement to collaborate in various areas of renewable energy (including energy storage, green hydrogen and its derivatives) in India and overseas.

Gautam Solar will invest INR 150 crore to double its PV module production capacity to 2 GW per year.  

Already 5.8 million tons of green hydrogen manufacturing capacity is in different stages of installation in India, said power minister R.K. Singh at a summit in New Delhi recently.

Shyam Metalics’ entry into battery-grade aluminum foil at scale will support domestic Lithium-ion battery production.

Exide Energy is setting up 6 GWh of lithium battery capacity initially, including 3 GWh for lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide (NCM) and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells each. It plans to scale it to 12 GWh in the near future.

Solar manufacturers in India now have until Oct. 18 to bid for supplying 1 GWp of PV modules built with domestically manufactured cells.

To decarbonize the grid, India needs to add 40-50 GW of grid-scale renewable energy (solar and wind) capacity every year for the next few decades and phase out coal.
