ACME Group has signed a 10-year binding green ammonia purchase agreement (GAPA) with the Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI) for 370,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of green ammonia capacity. The estimated contract value over 10-year period is INR 20,000 crore. ACME had won the capacity from SECI under Mode-2A, Tranche-I of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme—India’s first green hydrogen and ammonia procurement program.
The signing of this GAPA marks a key milestone in India’s transition to low-carbon industrial feedstocks in the fertilizer sector. Under the agreement, ACME will establish a green ammonia facility in Odisha, to supply the contracted capacity of green ammonia to six major fertilizer facilities spread across five states in both east and west coast of India.
SECI, acting as the intermediary aggregator, has executed the corresponding green ammonia sale agreements (GASA) with leading fertilizer companies, ensuring long-term demand visibility and supply stability. The offtakers include:
- Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO), Kandla Plant, Gujarat: 100,000 tpa
- Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO), Paradeep Plant, Odisha: 100,000 tpa
- Paradeep Phosphates Ltd (PPL), Paradeep Plant, Odisha: 75,000 tpa
- Paradeep Phosphates Ltd (PPL), Goa Plant: 25,000 tpa
- India Potash Ltd (IPL), Haldia Plant, West Bengal: 20,000 tpa
- Coromandel International Ltd (CIL), Visakhapatnam Plant, Andhra Pradesh: 50,000 tpa
“We are proud to partner with SECI, MNRE and MoCF in pioneering India’s decarbonization efforts in the fertilizer industry,” said Anil Taparia, chief operating officer of ACME Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Business. “This agreement, result of a bold vision by the Government of India to usher-in energy security to India’s fertilizer sector, represents a defining step in demonstrating commercial-scale green ammonia production and offtake viability at a competitive cost.”
ACME Group operates one of the world’s earliest pilot-scale green hydrogen and green ammonia plants and is developing multiple large-scale green ammonia and green methanol projects in India and Oman, designed for domestic and international markets.
