ACME Solar Holdings Ltd (ACME Solar), through its various subsidiaries, has commissioned additional 155 MW/470.25 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) in the Indian state of Rajasthan. With this addition, the company’s total commissioned BESS capacity reaches 297.67 MW/951.74 MWh, out of the total planned BESS capacity of 835 MW/3,114.64 MWh through these special-purpose vehicles.

These BESS are connected with the existing operational inter-state transmission system (ISTS) and will run on merchant basis, generating additional revenue stream through price differential between peak and non-peak demand hours.

“These BESS projects are designed to enhance grid reliability and optimise power utilisation by charging batteries during non-peak demand periods and discharging during peak demand periods. This capability will play a critical role in balancing energy supply and demand while improving the overall grid stability,” said the company.

ACME Solar has a diversified renewable energy portfolio of 8,071 MW across solar, wind, storage, firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE), and hybrid projects. Of this, 2,978 MW, along with 1 GWh of BESS installations, is operational. Projects totalling 5,093 MW along with 16 GWh of BESS installations are under construction. The under construction PPA signed portfolio stands at 3,292 MW.
