SJVN Ltd’s tender for setting up 250 MW/500 MWh of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Haryana has discovered a tariff of INR 1.97 lakh/MW/month.

Madhya Pradesh-based Hardi Hydro Energy emerged as the successful bidder, securing the full capacity at the quoted price.

SJVN floated the tender in December last year as an intermediary procurer and implementing agency for the BESS. Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd (UHBVNL), the end procurer, will utilize the storage capacity on an on-demand basis to meet power requirements during peak and off-peak hours.

As per the tender, SJVN will sign a battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) with Hardi Hydro Energy for a period of 12 years.

The 250 MW/500 MWh project will be located near the 220 kV substation of the state transmission utility network of Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL), at the premises of the 1,360 MW Panipat Thermal Power Station in Haryana. Land identification and allocation is under the scope of UHBVNL.

The project is eligible for viability gap funding (VGF) under the Power System Development Fund (PSDF) scheme.
