Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has concluded its Phase VII tender for 4 GWh (2 GW x 2 hours) battery energy storage capacity with tariff discovery in the range of INR 1.85 lakh to INR 1.89 lakh per MW per month.
Sun Drops Energia secured 445 MW at INR 1.85 lakh, while Engie Energy won 280 MW at INR 1.87 lakh. Other winners include Ultimate Flexipack (450 MW), Stockwell Solar Services (130 MW), and Samavist Energy Solutions (100 MW). MEC Power Solutions, Solar91 Cleantech, Viviana Power Tech, and Rajesh Power Services each secured 65 MW.
The selected developers will set up BESS projects in Gujarat, connected to the intrastate transmission system, on a build–own–operate basis. They will make the storage capacity available to GUVNL for charging and discharging on an “on-demand” basis. GUVNL will sign battery energy storage purchase agreements (BESPA) with successful bidders.
Projects awarded under this tender are eligible for viability gap funding (VGF). The BESS will be charged from the GETCO grid and will inject power into the GETCO network in line with dispatch instructions from the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) in consultation with GUVNL. Developers must ensure the BESS is available for two operational cycles per day—that is, two complete charge–discharge cycles daily.
