Reliance Infrastructure Ltd has received the Letter of Award (LoA) from state-owned power producer NHPC for a 390 MW solar power project integrated with battery energy storage.
To fulfil the contract, Reliance Infrastructure will develop 700 MWp of solar DC capacity, connected via an inter-state transmission system (ISTS), along with a 780 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The generated power will be supplied to NHPC under the awarded contract.
The company secured the project at a competitive tariff of INR 3.13/kWh in NHPC’s tender to procure 1.2 GW of solar power integrated with 600 MW/2,400 MWh of BESS. The tender attracted bids from 15 participants, with 14 qualifying for the e-reverse auction. It was oversubscribed nearly four times, underscoring strong industry interest in dispatchable renewable energy solutions.
Reliance Power, a listed company within the Reliance Group, currently operates a renewable energy portfolio comprising approximately 2.5 GWp of solar and 2.5 GWh of BESS capacity. With the addition of the newly awarded project, the Reliance Group’s clean energy pipeline now exceeds 3 GWp of solar DC capacity and 3.5 GWh of BESS, positioning it as India’s largest player in the integrated solar-plus-storage segment.
