Ratul Puri’s Hindustan Power has secured a Letter of Award from SJVN Ltd to develop a 100 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power project paired with a 200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The actual installed capacity of the solar project will be higher to ensure round-the-clock power supply and charge the BESS for uninterrupted peak-hour supply.

Hindustan Power secured the project through a tariff-based competitive bidding process followed by a successful e-reverse auction. The capacity is part of SJVN’s planned 1,200 MW ISTS-connected solar PV power projects with 600 MW/2,400 MWh energy storage systems to be set up anywhere in India.

“The project will enhance grid resilience and operational agility by balancing intermittent solar power generation with real-time energy demand, while ensuring a continuous and reliable supply of clean power, including four hours of delivery during peak demand periods,” stated Hindustan Power. “The integrated BESS will enable energy shifting and peak load management, significantly improving grid stability and efficiency.”

The project will be designed to deliver firm and dispatchable power throughout the 25-year power purchase agreement.
