NLC India Renewables Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Ltd, has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corp. Ltd (TNGECL) to develop three standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) projects totaling 250 MW/500 MWh. The systems will support two full charge-discharge cycles per day for on-demand usage.
NLC secured the project through competitive bidding. The project marks the NLCIL Group’s first large-scale BESS initiative. The projects will be developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) model with viability gap funding (VGF) under the state component. These will be located at the 400/230/110 kV substations in Ottapidaram, Anuppankulam, and Kayathar, Tamil Nadu.
