Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp) has secured its first 50 MW round-the-clock (RTC) power project from Solar Energy Corp. of India Ltd (SECI). The project, to be developed on a build-own-operate basis, has been awarded to Sembcorp’s wholly-owned renewables subsidiary, Sembcorp Green Infra Pvt Ltd (SGIPL).

Semcorp won this project through competitive bidding in SECI’s 1.2 GW tender for RTC power from inter-state transmission system-connected renewable energy projects.

Sembcorp will install around 300 MW capacity comprising solar, wind, and battery energy storage solutions (BESS) to meet the contracted capacity.

The latest project takes Sembcorp’s gross renewables capacity to more than 6.5 GW in India. Globally, Sembcorp’s total renewables portfolio has reached 18.0 GW, including acquisitions pending completion.

Subject to the execution of a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SECI and upon completion of the project, it will supply RTC renewable power supported by BESS to SECI. The Project is expected to be ready for commercial operation within 24 months from the date of signing the PPA. The Project will be funded through a mix of internal funds and debt.
