BC Jindal Group has announced that it has won a 150 MW round-the-clock (RTC) project in a reverse auction conducted by Solar Energy Corp. of India Ltd (SECI). The project is awarded under SECI’s tender for 1.2 GW RTC renewable power floated in November last year.
The Group secured 150 MW at a tariff of INR 5.07/kWh. As part of the project, it will set up renewable energy power projects, connected to the inter-state transmission system (ISTS). This would entail building transmission networks and establishing interconnection or delivery points with the ISTS network.
As per the stated terms, the B C Jindal Group will be responsible for land identification for the RTC project, project installation and ownership, necessary approvals, and interconnection with the ISTS network, for power supply to DISCOMs.
The latest win comes hot on the heels of the Group’s renewable energy arm, Jindal India Renewable Energy (JIRE), securing a 300 MW solar plus storage project from state-owned SJVN. The project is awarded under SJVN’s tender for 1.2 GW ISTS-connected solar power projects with 600 MW/2400 MW of battery energy storage systems (BESS). In addition, JIRE recently received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) for a 300 MW solar plus storage project from state-owned enterprise NHPC. This project is part of NHPC’s 1.2 GW inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power initiative, which includes 600 MW/1,200 MW energy storage systems.
BC Jindal group intends to invest $2.5 billion in the renewable energy sector by 2030. Additionally, the group through JIRE is setting up a solar cell and module manufacturing plant in Maharashtra, with a planned annual capacity of 2 GW. The facility is expected to be operational by September 2026. To further strengthen the group’s renewable energy portfolio, JIRE is exploring the expansion of its operational assets across India. This expansion, slated for completion within the next four years, will be funded through internal accruals and debt.
