Anil Ambani’s Reliance Power Ltd announced today that its subsidiary, Reliance NU Suntech, has secured a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI) for a 930 MW AC solar project integrated with a 465 MW/1,860 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).

The project will deliver assured solar power supply during peak hours (four hours daily) at a competitive fixed tariff of INR 3.53 per kWh. With a planned capital investment of up to INR 10,000 crore, it will be Asia’s largest single-location integrated solar and BESS project. The project is set for commissioning within the next 24 months.

To meet the contracted capacity of 930 MW AC, Reliance NU Suntech will deploy over 1,700 MWp of solar generation capacity.

Reliance NU Suntech won the project in SECI’s Tranche XVII auction through a tariff-based competitive bidding process. The auction attracted bids from five major energy companies for a total of 2 GW of inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar projects and 1 GW/4 GWh of BESS capacity.

“Reliance Power has successfully submitted a Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) of INR 378 crore to SECI. The entire bidding process—from the reverse auction to the issuance of the Letter of Award (LoA) and the signing of the PPA—was completed in under five months,” the company stated.
