Jindal Stainless sets up 30 MWp solar plant for self consumption

Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless steel producer, has announced the commissioning of a 30 MWp captive solar power plant at its facility in Jaipur, Odisha. Developed in partnership with clean energy solutions provider AB Energia Solutions, the project is said to be Odisha’s largest captive solar installation within a single industrial campus.

The project combines a 7.324 MWp floating solar plant with a 23.02 MWp rooftop solar system. It is expected to generate around 44.3 million units (MU) of green energy annually, enough to power 12,000-15,000 households or offset CO2 emissions by 32,208 metric tonnes annually.

The floating solar plant, deployed on an internal reservoir, transforms previously unused water bodies into productive assets that not only generate clean energy but also help reduce water evaporation. The rooftop solar system has been installed across ten industrial roofs at varying elevations, making optimal use of available space and maximizing energy output.
