Kosol Energie has announced the commissioning of a 12 MW DC solar power project for the Gujarat State Electricity Corp. Ltd (GSECL) at Manjal, Gujarat.

This project employs 545 Wp bifacial modules featuring 144 half-cut cells and transparent backsheets, mounted on fixed-tilt structures. It spans over 45 acres of previously unused government-owned wasteland, of which 13 acres were set aside for EHV and HV transmission lines, towers, and pipelines within the plant area.

“The use of bifacial modules enables higher energy yields by capturing sunlight from both sides—even with fixed-tilt mounting—boosting overall system efficiency by over 15% compared to traditional monofacial module setups,” stated Kosol Energie.

The project will supply power for agricultural operations in the region, through GSECL’s initiative to integrate clean energy into farming.

Kosol stated its team executed and commissioned the project within a record timeline overcoming challenging conditions such as harsh weather, right-of-way (ROW) issues for transmission lines within the plant area, and land encroachment.

The project is estimated to help offset around 402,814 tonnes of CO2 over 25 years.
