Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has allocated 1 GWh of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) at an average tariff of $3,321.20 per megawatt of project nominal power per month through its Phase VI tender.

Solarworld Energy Solutions and HG Infra Engineering emerged winners for developing and operating large-scale BESS projects in Gujarat.

Solarworld secured 200 MW/400 MWh at the lowest quoted price of $3,288.31/MW/month, while HG Infra Engineering will deploy the remaining 300 MW/600 MWh at $3,354/MW/month.

Both the winners will set up the BESS on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis in Gujarat, with the primary objective of making the energy storage facility available to GUVNL for charging/discharging of the BESS on an ‘on demand’ basis.
